2. What is traded

The simple answer is money.



Because you do not buy anything physically (significant). It is possible that this type of trading confusing.

For example, when you buy (Japanese yen) you are basically buying "share" in the Japanese economy. You are betting that the Japanese economy is in good condition, and will be better over time and then sell these "share" and so you end up with a profit.

In general, the exchange rate of a currency against other currencies is a reflection of the state of the country's economy, compared with the economies of other countries.

Currency symbols are always three letters, where the first two characters specifically name of the country and the third letter identifies the name of the currency in this country. NZD we take, for example, represent NZ New Zealand, and the letter D means the dollar
